As an important raw material in organic chemical industry, formaldehyde is a key intermediate in chemical synthesis. By 2010, the domestic gross demand for formaldehyde is expected to reach eight million tons and by 2020, 17 million tons.
II. Construction Scale
To produce 200,000 tons/year of formaldehyde.
III. Process and the Consumption of Raw Materials
i. Process: to adopt the iron-molybdenum catalytic process.
ii. Consumption of raw materials: a) 86,800 tons of methanol (99.9%) per year; b) 18.4 million kWh of electric power per year; c) 940,000 tons of circulating water per year.
IV. Investment Budgetary Estimate
The estimated gross investment is 196 million Yuan.
V. Mode of Cooperation
Exclusive investment, joint venture, or cooperative development.
VI. Economic Benefits Prediction
After the completion of the project, it can realize an annual production value of 220 million Yuan; annual profits of 42 million Yuan; and a tax of 18 million Yuan. The rate of profit and tax to investment will be 32.16%, and the average payback period will be 7.3 years (including two years of construction period).
