Background of Project: The pool-type heat reactor is one of the two nuclear heat reactors that are now being widely used in the world. Its major difference from the shell-type nuclear heat reactor consists in its reactor core is submerged in a pool under the atmospheric pressure while for the shell-type one, it’s installed in a pressurized shell. In 1983, through screening test, China completed the test of nuclear heat supply; and some pool-type reactors like the 49-3 engineering test reactor and the screening test reactor of Tsinghua University have been set up. Decades of experience of the design, construction and operation of pool-type reactors within the country makes it a mature technology, on basis of which the pool-type heat reactor is developed. The technology as well as devices is all from China. After being put into operation, this kind of heat reactor has unfolded a promising prospect with the advantages such as simplicity, safety, and being able to efficiently solve the problem of the shortage of energy sources, lower pollution and relax the strained transport capability in some areas.
Construction Scale: to set up a 200-megawatt nonpressurized deep pool heat reactor and provide the heat generated by putting the used fuel of nuclear power plants again into the reactor for five million square meters of architecture. In this way, about 130,000 tons of coal will be saved every year.
Investment Budgetary Estimate and Capital Recourses: gross investment: 350 million Yuan; capital resources: by attracting investors and capital.
Economic Benefits & Social Benefits: The project refers to a developable technology that can improve the environment of cities and serve as a new energy resource. It can meet the demand of the people living in Jiayuguan and Jiuquan as well as its surrounding areas for heat in winter.
Progression of the Project: The project feasibility study report has been finished.
Mode of Cooperation: join venture, or cooperative.
