Project Brief Introduction: The project is to construct a 2x300MW coal fired air cooling and heat supply unit, through taking full advantage of the rice coal resources of the State of Mongolia; to enhance the proportion of the thermal power generating units in the power network of Gansu and meet the increasing demand for electric and heating power in Jiayuguan area. In 2007, the first 300MW generating unit will begin to be constructed; and in 2009, the second. During the eleventh five-year plan period, one unit will be sure to put into production. 

Market Analysis: During the eleventh fine-year plan period with the development of the economy of Jiayuguan City as well as the Jiuquan Iron and Steel (Group) Co., Ltd., electric and heating power supply will be deficient. By 2010, the newly-added power load in Jiayuguan area is estimated to be 803MW, and the total will reach 1,207MW. With the elimination of the backward small generating sets in the own electric power plant of Jiuquan Iron and Steel (Group) Co., Ltd., the gap will come up to 518MW. Jiuquan Iron and Steel (Group) Co., Ltd. has cooperated with the State of Mongolia to develop coal resources; and further, the group and Hongsheng Electrothermal Co．Ltd. jointly invested to build the Jiayuguan-Ceke railway. The newly built sets, with the pool advantage of coal and electricity, can contribute to the development of the high energy bearing industrial chain by drawing upon the strong strength of the local metallurgical industry.

Investment Budgetary Estimate: gross investment: 2.8 billion Yuan.

Economic Benefits Prediction: After the project completed, it can realize an annual sales income of 1.17 billion Yuan; profits of 150 million Yuan. The construction period will be three years.

Progression of the Project: The project feasibility study report has been finished.
