1.Background of Project

Ma'anshan—Anqing section of the highway along the Yangtze River, one of the trunk line from west to east in Anhui province, runs across Anqing, Chizhou, Tongling, Wuhu, Ma'anshan etc and connects the developed region in the east of China and some inland provinces in the west, such as Hubei and Jiangxi. The completion of the project will perfect arterial highway net of Anhui province, improve the transport conditions in the region along Yangtze River. In short, it will play an important part in promoting the economic development of the whole province.

2. Construction Content and Scale

Content: It's planned to construct highway of four-vehicle-lane in plain and slight hilly region with the designed speed of 100 km/h and roadbed 26 meters wide.

Scale: The total length is 210 kilometers.

Construction plan: The construction of the project will commence in 2001 and put into use in 2007.

3. Investment Estimate

Total investment is estimated at 7000 million yuan (US$ 846.43 million)

Predicted traffic volume in 2015: 28000 vehicles per day

Internal Earning Rate in 25 years: 13%

Subject to Anhui Provincial Highway Administration, Anhui Huanyu Highway Construction and Development Center is a state-owned enterprise, which combines funds raising and circulating, investment, construction, running, management and consultation with the development of relevant industries. Invested by the Center, the projects of Hefei-Luan-Xieji highway, Guohe Bridge, etc. have been finished and put into use with the achievements of significant social and economic benefits.
