Growing Producing and Processing of Medlar Shoots as Vegetables

II.Survey of the Project Undertaking Unit:
Ningxia Medlar Shouts Foodstuff Science and Technology Co., Ltd. is a scientific and technological development enterprise that specializes in growing medlar shouts used as vegetables, deeply processing them into made products and engaging in the research, production and marketing of green farming products. Its products include snack medlar bud vegetables, dehydrated medlar bud vegetables, frozen fresh medlar bud vegetables and medlar bud tea etc. It has now owned 298 staff, of whom 46 have respectively obtained different certifications of special technical school, colleges and universities.

III.Contents of the Project:
To set up another productive line producing 100 tons of snack medlar bud vegetables, 2000 tons of frozer fresh medlar bud vegetables and 50 tons of medlar bud tea; to finish constructing the workshops and purchase the equipment; to set up 3000 mu of growing base of medlar bud vegetables.

IV.Conditions for the Operation of the Project:
So far there has been a productive line with annual output of 100 tons of snack medlar bud vegetables, 2000 tons of frozen fresh medlar bud vegetables and 50 tons of medlar bud tea. The vegetable was chosen as a state banquet dish of The People's Meeting Hall in 2004.

V.Market Prospect:
The vegetable contains rich nutrition and is a food of high protein, high calcium, high iron, low sugar and low fat. Tested by Dairy Quality Supervision Examination and Inspection Center of the State Agriculture Ministry, the main ingredients it contains per 100 g of dehydrated medlar bud vegetables are as follows: protein to be 40.78%, calcium to 1300 mg, phosphor 498 mg, iron 13.4 mg, coarse fibre 9.98% and is an ideal nutritious cate either as vegetables or as medicines with extensive market foreground.

VI.Estimated Investment and Economic Profits:
The investment totals RMB￥30 million. After completion and into operation, the annual output value can reach to RMB￥100 million with the profit of RMB￥15 million .

VII.Progress of the Project:
The feasibility study report has been approved. At present, there are 3000 mu of land for growing.
