1. Background of the Project : In the adjustment of the agricultural pattern, Laohekou City has established vegetables and fruit as its leading products of agriculture. The vegetable growing area is up to 220,000 mu, and 380,000 tons of vegetables can be produced annually. It is one of the four major vegetable seed cultivation base in the country, and the sole cruciferae vegetable growing base in Hubei. "Vegetables corridor of one hundred li along Hanjiang River " is chosen as " one of the 100 national pollution-free vegetable bases " by the Ministry of Agriculture. The products find a good sale in large and medium cities such as Shanghai , Beijing , Xi'an , Lanzhou , Wuhan ,etc.. Laohekou City especially develops shoal resource scientifically, utilizing land for yam growing, which is highly appreciated by experts. The whole growing area of yam is up to 50,000 mu, and the yield is 5,000 kg per unit area on average, and the average income is 8,000 yuan per mu. It is an effective way for farmers along the river to increase their income. It is also a great invention of the city in developing and controlling shoal resources, which turns the waste land into green land.

3. Economic and Social Benefits: After the project is completed, it can increase an output value of 2.5 million USD every year, and the profit is 625,000 USD. It is estimated that the investment can be paid back in 3 years.
