1. Project Content : Baokang is the main producing area of " Chinese bulpleurum " , which is one of the three major Chinese bulpleurum series in history, and enjoys great prestige inside and outside the province for its" long and strong root, and best quality " . The ketone content in stem , leaf , root is up to 2.1%, higher than the average national level by 0.5 percentage points.As the test demonstration base of Chinese bulpleurum of Hubei, Baokang succeed in working out the artificial fast seedling of Chinese bulpleurum, and its technique in large scale cultivation and planting .It has so far cultivated 40,000 mu of Chinese bulpleurum growing base, with the annual output of more than 6000 tons of dry root, 12,000 tons of dry stem and leaf, more than 450kg per mu. It is planned to add another 60,000 mu of cultivated land and wasteland to reach 100,000mu in total and to build Chinese bulpleurum ketone processing project with annual capacity of 700 tons.
2. Investment Estimation and Financial Scheme: The total investment of the project is USD 3,650,000, among them 2,440,000 dollars for processing project investment, 1,210,000 dollars for building the base. It is planned to introduce 2,440,000 dollars of fund.
3. Economic and Social Benefit: Saikosaponin and sterol contained in Chinese bulpleurum have obvious antibacterial and antiinfectious function, and the function of recuperating on the heart , liver. It is one of the most frequently used Chinese medicinal materials. In the clinical medicine, liquid from Chinese bulpleurum ketone is widely used to treat viral pneumonia, and is the first-choice medicine for treating the SARS. Modern Chinese medicine have Chinese bulpleurum oil droplet, Chinese bulpleurum injection, Chinese bulpleurum oral solution,etc. and more than 10 kinds of medicine using Chinese bulpleurum as raw material. The raw materials and clinical medicine consumption are big, and the products are in short supply. After the project is built and put into production, it can increase sales income by 6,100,000 dollars every year. The profit is 970,000 dollars, tax is 610,000 dollars, and the rate of investment return is 26.7%.
4. Current Status: 40,000 mu have already been developed as the cultivated area of Chinese bulpleurum now, and the newexpanding base has already been prepared. Water and electricity are available, and it is easily accessible.
