1. Project Content : (1) The protective maintenance:An overall and extensive maintenance will be made on the city wall, and an Arched Gate Tower will be restored. (2) The restoring constructuction:The Eastern Gate, Southern Gate, Western Gate and Superstructure will be renewed. The Lion Tower and Kuixing Tower will be also repaired. (3) The related building and service facilities:The exhibition hall of city wall, the exhibition hall of ancient military weapons and the exhibition hall of liberation war will be built. The service facilities, for example, the appropriate catering service facilities, parking lots, and the recreational facilities will be built, and the path of the journey will be opened.
2. Investment estimation and financial scheme: The total investment is about USD 3.75 million.
3. Economic and Social Benefits: After the project is completed, the minimum number of annual tourists can reach no less than 200,000 on average. If the consumption per capita is calculated on the basis of $4.4, the annual profit will be USD 0.875 million.
4. General Information of the Project Unit: Xiangyang Ancient City Wall, one of the well-preserved ancient city walls in China at present, is the major historical and cultural sites under state protection. At the foot of the Xianshan Mountain and beside the Hanjiang River, Xiangyang Ancient City Wall, simple and natural, lofty and towering, is one of the major scenic spots of the tourism route of the Three Kingdoms culture. Recently, Linhanmen Gate Tower, Furen Gate Tower, and Gongchengmen Gate Tower have been maintained, and Zhongxuan Gate Tower has been rebuilt, and the longest ancient culture imitation street in China has also been finished, which makes the ancient city more magnificent with rich tourism implication.
5. Current Status: The famous experts from Qinghua University and Wuhan University have been invited to work out the planning of the protection of ancient city. The basic thought about tourism development is as follows: on the basis of protection, the scenic spot of Xiangyang Ancient City, Xiangyang Park, Old Dragon Embankment, and Riverside Road as well as the public places of entertainment will be built and improved. And it will form a tourism system with the sightseeing and entertainment of the ancient city wall as the core, and the ancient culture and traveling, sightseeing, entertainment and catering and shopping as the support, to shape its unique feature and improve the popularity in the whole country.
6. Cooperation Form: Xiangyang Ancient City Wall is the major historical and cultural site under the state protection. Due to its peculiarity, joint venture, cooperation or other feasible ways can be accepted.
