◆ Project description: The main force of this project is HsinChu Science from Taiwan, who invested into the in-zone semi-conductor IC industry and communication & network service industry.
The Zone has planned to build an IC manufacturing base, which will be the largest and most advanced one in Central China and South China.The total investment was USD 1.5 billion. The annual production value may reach RMB 1.37 billion Yuan. The base will enable the related industrial chains to make an annual production value of USD 8 billion.
The first-stage project of semi-conductor IC manufacturing was put into operation in June, 2005. Since then, a complete industrial chain has been formed that covers R & D, design and production, packaging, testing, and providing related services for the end-users.
In respect of communication and network service, the base has quite a few independently-developed patent technologies including mobile application platform for 2-dimentional bar code. The technologies may be industrialized.
In order to extend and expand the industrial chains to form IT industry agglomeration, the enterprises to develop, design chips, to produce related equipment, and to specialize in system integration are welcome to build plants here.
◆ Market analysis: The period of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan is a critical period for the development of China’s electronic information industry. To reform and upgrade the traditional industries and to enhance the enterprises’ capabilities of independent innovation through informatization will become one of China’s important development strategies. Electronic industry as the basic industry of informatization, integrated circuit industry and electronic components in particular will become the focus of development.
