According to statistics from CCID Consulting (as of September 2006), the number of broadband subscribers came to 263 million worldwide, with an annual growth rate of more than 45%; DSL is the primary access technology, taking up 65.61%; DSL subscribers outnumbered 30 million in China, far above the figure for the United States, which comes out second.
